Self Compassion
Quick check in’s are a important part of Mental Health and Self Awareness.
I have been thinking a lot about self-compassion. I find that is an important piece to our human nature, but it is often forgotten.
Self-Compassion combined with mindfulness and self-care is proven to help with the regulation of our everyday moods. Despite our busy lives and schedules I find that we can learn to practice these very important tools and add it into our daily routine. I would like to talk about 3 components of compassion.
1. Common Humanity- Realizing that we are not alone in our struggles, we tend to feel isolated, fear and shame. To feel like we are suffering alone. These very struggles most of share the similar feeling and experiences.
2. Self-Kindness- As we show kindness to others, it is important that we show ourselves the same love and forgiveness we give to others. Accepting ourselves as we are, and allowing ourselves to feel happy.
3. Mindfulness- to practice and see the beauty in all things big or small. To really utilize the power of our senses. To feel the air on our face, to feel that blade of grass in our hand, to taste our coffee in the morning, and to smell that fresh ocean air.
We all should feel proud of ourselves and our accomplishments, as Robert Collier said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
